Teachers and children observing a box turtle up close on the forest floor during a Forest Day

Eastern Ridge has three classes, each with one teacher and one assistant teacher.

The Acorn class is our toddler program, which accepts students from 22 months to approximately 3.5 years, and provides 2, 3, and 5-day options.

Our two early childhood classes, Chipmunk and Sassafras, are 5-day, mixed-age programs for children between the ages of 3 and 5. Teachers and staff consider an individual child’s needs, as well as group dynamics, when deciding which class is the best fit for each child.

All of our students have regular opportunities to interact with one another, including during our weekly song circle.

Our core school hours are 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. We offer extended afternoon care until 4 or 5 p.m. The Aftercare program is staffed by regular Eastern Ridge staff, and the children typically spend this time in our outdoor spaces, with options for open-ended active play in our sandpits and yards, or group or individual play using building materials, puzzles, art supplies, and/or books.

Following the school year, we offer 10 weeks of summer camp for children through age 6 (rising first graders).

Our new Fledgling program is a weekly 1.5 hour parent-child class for parents of infants and toddlers, which provides an introduction to nature-based preschool life.
